MOTORBIKE RENTAL
Motorbike rental is included in the safari price. In case AFRICA BIKE TOURS cannot provide the specific model as agreed upon before the safari the participant has the right to claim back the full deposit and the safari price .In case of emergency substitution during the trip the participant will be refunded pro rata (according to engine capacity) when the same model is not available .This constitutes the maximum liability of AFRICA BIKE TOURS.
A security deposit for the motorbike is payable in addition of the safari price .This deposit is fully refundable if the motorbike is returned undamaged. Damage does not include normal wear and tear. In case of damage incurred other than wear and tear the participant will be notified as soon as possible of the amount.
In case of damage to a motorbike due to reckless and careless riding AFRICA BIKE TOURS will be under no obligation to replace the motorbike during the safari.
No motorbike insurance will be provided by AFRCA BIKE TOURS for participants who use their own motorbikes.
BOOKINGS
Every safari participant will have to sign an agreement between AFRICA BIKE TOURS and him / herself. In addition every participant will also have to sign a release and waiver form. A copy of these two documents will be provided in Namibia prior to the safari. With the payment of the deposit fee you will book a place on the safari.
RESERVATIONS AND DEPOSIT FEES
A deposit of N $ 3000-00 is required to book a place. The full amount is payable not less than 60 days prior to safari start date. In case such payment is not made in time AFRICA BIKE TOURS reserves the right to cancel the safari and the participant will then be charged a cancellation fee of N $ 1500-00 .
INSURANCE
Own insurance which includes personal , travel, medical, hospitalization, and emergency medical evacuation ,is compulsory and proof of existence of insurance has to be verified prior to departure.
CANCELLATION AND REFUNDS
In case of written cancellation eight weeks, or longer, before safari date 50 % of deposit will be charged as cancellation fee.
In case of cancellation between four and eight weeks (28 days -56 days) the whole deposit will be charged as a cancellation fee.
In case of cancellation less than four weeks (28 days) before safari date the total safari price and the deposit will be forfeited.
No refunds will be made to anyone who does not complete the safari for whatever reason. Please make sure that you have the necessary insurance for such cases.
No refunds will be made in case of route changes or any change to the route because of unforeseen circumstances.
GENERAL
Any person who intends to participate must be at least 24 years old and must have reasonable past experience, preferably on dirt roads.
It is the responsibility of every person to make sure that he is in possession of the necessary travel documents (passport and visa), valid drivers’ licence, health and other certificates that may be required from time to time.
AFRICA BIKE TOURS appoints a safari guide who will lead the safari on a motorbike. We expect all bike riders and passengers to comply with guidelines set out by the safari guide. AFRICA BIKE TOURS expects all participants to follow the route set out by the safari guide throughout the safari.
The safari program is subject to change because of unforeseen circumstances like weather conditions, road construction and other reasons. AFRICA BIKE TOURS will however do its utmost to provide the best alternative for the set period .This will have an effect on the route and accommodation .No refunds will be made in such cases.
The safari price as advertised might be changed 56 days before the safari date. In such cases the full deposit will be refunded if it is not acceptable to the client.
AFRICA BIKE TOURS will take no responsibility for loss or damage to baggage or any personal belongings during daily transportation of such items.
AFRICA BIKE TOURS reserves the right to terminate the agreement with a participant should anyone not: adhere to the traffic laws, ride unsafely, not following guidelines set out by the safari guide or ride under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The motorbike will then be taken away from the participant without a refund.
All participants agree to refrain from drinking alcohol until the safari party has reached its destination.
AFRICA BIKE TOURS cannot be held responsible for accidents during the safari. It is agreed and understood that neither ABT nor any of its workers can be held liable for any occurrence during the safari which might result in death, injury, damage to the participant, his property, his family heirs or assigns.
ABT cannot be held liable for bad weather which might result in changing the safari program. No refunds will be made in such events.
ABT will not allow passengers on motor bikes. Passengers are welcome to accompany the safari in one of the back up vehicles.
SAFARI CANCELLATION
A safari might be cancelled in case of insufficient interest in the safari. In such a case every participant will be notified of changes that will make the safari possible. These will include: an extra amount per participant, route changes and other changes to make the safari possible .Where all the participants do not agree on the proposed change, the safari will be cancelled,and the deposit and the safari price will be refunded. ABT is not responsible for any other losses incurred by the participants due to the cancellation of a safari because of a lack of interest.
The Safari price includes:
- Collection at airport on day of arrival
- Accommodation in lodges – for persons sharing
- Camping fees and camping equipment and the preparation of the campsite. Every person will have his own tent.
- Motorbike rental
- Tour guide
- Luggage transport throughout the tour, at the participants own risk.
- Tour map and Tour guidelines
- Medical doctor or paramedic on tour as well as radio communication to arrange for transport in case of emergency to hospitals
- Mechanic and backup staff
- Meals will include breakfast and dinner. Snacks and soft drinks will be served during the day
- Transport in backup vehicles where motorbikes are not allowed entry,for instance, in national parks
The Safari price excludes:
- Personal items
- passport and visa fees
- laundry
- telephone calls
- room service
- accident insurance and any medical expenses
- Flight tickets to Windhoek and back
- Protective riding gear – helmet ,riding suit, gloves, kidneybelt,backprotector,boots,earplugs, sunglasses
- Single room charges
- Tips and spending money
- Own personal travel insurances
- Forwarding of parcels from Namibia to other destinations
- Alcoholic drinks
- Entry fees to parks and other sights
SAFETY PROCEDURES
The following guidelines will ensure a safe motorbike safari
Riders will have to be in possession of a valid international driver's licence.
Riders must wear the basic protective clothing when riding. That is: helmet, gloves, boots and a riding suit.
Before a safari there will be a short introductory course regarding dirt road riding (theoretical and practical), safety guidelines for the safari, and Namibian road laws. Advice and help will always be available to anyone who needs it throughout the safari.
The safari leader will lead the safari. In so doing he will able to warn the riders in case of any danger ahead. It is thus important that riders adhere to the guidelines set out before the safari.
A medical doctor or a paramedic will always accompany our safari. Medical equipment and a medical kit will be available to treat most minor emergencies on tour and major emergencies will be referred to Windhoek for specialized treatment.
All riders must have medical insurance for any medical emergency.
Satellite phone communication will be available at all times to arrange for emergency evacuation if necessary.
Medical history of each guest will be available to us from the medical questionnaire information, the medical doctor can therefore do the necessary preparation for each guest on safari with us.
We expect every rider to ride safely and enjoy the safari.
Our motorbikes will always be well maintained. A mechanic on safari will make sure every rider has a safe ride each day.
No riding under the influence of alcohol.
