The freedom of the open road beckons |
Final safari administration and planning will be concluded before dinner is served at the lodge while you enjoy the opportunity to acquaint yourself with your safari hosts and fellow participants. Lodge accommodation will provide sufficient comfort for a good night’s rest prior to the first day of serious riding.

| DAY 3 |
After an early breakfast prepared on open fire we will depart on a day visit to Sesriem canyon and Sossusvlei. The compact Sesriem canyon is not much more than a narrow cleft, up to 30m deep and so well hidden that you could almost stumble into it. The canyon makes an interesting excursion into the river bed with its scattered pools of coll water, remnants of the Tsauchab River which ends at Sossusvlei, 70km away. |
| |
Sossusvlei area |
The Sossusvlei area is remote, impressive and starkly beautiful. The huge dunes on the way to Sossusvlei constantly appear to change their colours, texture and patterns, depending on the position of the sun. A 50km drive along the unique “dune street” between the ancient red sand monsters will take you up to 5km away from Sossusvlei.
The last stretch is covered on foot but the first sight of the spectacular “Dead Vlei” makes the effort well worth. Unwind around the campfire with a refreshing drink after the day’s activities while dinner is being prepared. By now the privacy of your dome tent should feel very much like home.
| DAY 4 |

These are lichen fields, consisting of colonies of these primitive plants which obtain all of their moisture from the sea fog and which is a very threatened species.
From Hentiesbay we will proceed to the Spitzkoppe across the open desert. The Spitzkoppe is one of the most famous landmarks in Namibia and the view of this impressive mountain is superb with plenty of tempting photographic opportunities.
